Desole for the delay

Day  5/6/7/8/9

Well hello there, it has definitely been awhile. There is so much that has happened, so I can only hope to catch you up in a short space and limited time. I haven’t felt well in some days now, but I am not worried. TENS remains my good friend, and well, what can I say about Mr Loopy… love ya bro!

The last couple of weeks have taught me a lot. I have learned that physiotherapy can be an awesome experience. I have also realized that unlike my university days, you cannot cram for tests and exams! On one or two occasions I neglected my homework and paid the price the next day. Good thing JM (the coolest therapist that ever will be) is forgiving, and didn’t make me feel bad for it, just made me pay on the day… call it even, ouch!

I have regained much of my lost range of motion and a good bit of strength!!! The muscle fatigue may be the one that takes the longest to turn around, but they are very pleased with my hard work and dedication to the cause. Did they not get the memo, I WILL TEACH MY SON TO RIDE HIS TWO WHEELER dammit!  (Really cool site for hints on teaching kids to ride, click here)

In the midst of this I did another electric muscle test and found out I have a full case of carpel tunnel syndrome… oh joy! In the grander scheme of things, not so bad, but bear with me… awwwww c’mon man… really!?!?!?! Ok I’m done wallowing.

I learned and witnessed some good old fashion father(in-law)ly love… I know he is nowhere close to an internet junkie, but BD you are awesome! The good thing is I had and took advantage of the opportunity to tell him to his face. I keep saying on a daily basis I win lotteries, and his kindness was just another example. BD came in from Toronto and “re-did” our bathroom. At first that seems like a pretty cosmetic thing… the problem – when he removed the skin (aka tiles and floors) there was mould growing, water leaking, etc. He didn’t flinch and just extended his generosity to a flown blown HGTVesque reno of our salle de bain. What made it more ‘moving’ for me, he refused to let me do anything more then drive him to Home Depot. He forced the good ol wife to keep me from doing any work… “When he gets better he can help me finish the rest of the house”. I know I know, you all keep telling me to just accept kindness and generosity… it’s hard. Thanks pops… REALLY!

Finally, I learned that life really is a gift… a privilege of sorts. Don’t take advantage of it. If you remember in one of my previous posts I told the story of two of my “inspirations”… well we just found out that AC may not have been as lucky as we had first hoped. Seems that the cancer was not stage one, but actually stage two, and there is a possibility it has spread to her lungs and/or liver. They are setting up the tests, to verify now, so we cling to that hope that there was just a smudge on the screen. They also reported the removal of 27 lymph nodes because they were “hot” (the dye they inject you with to do the check a couple days before were glowing like a neon sign in times square when they cut for the tumor.

Here’s the magic… she is still trying to make other people laugh! AC is one special lady. If you are the praying type please send up a prayer or two… Not only does she need it, she deserves it!!!

There’s a bunch of other little hiccups (haha did I say lil hiccups… grrrrr), but nothing that can’t wait until another time. Be good to each other…

And as always, thanks for the continued support.
