Well let me start off by saying TENS… You Rock Baby!!!
All of us, if honest, would admit that over time we have become comfortable in our day to day lives and neglect to truly appreciate things. Sometimes this can mean a special person… a relationship… a privilege or advantage… you know what I mean. Well I found out yesterday that one of the things to add to that list is a pain free day.
Many of you haven’t experienced chronic pain, so being thankful that you don’t have it may be a stretch. I’m not sure if words can do it justice, but let me try. I would imagine most if not everyone has experienced a headache. Doesn’t have to be a migraine, in fact think of the weakest headache you have ever had. Now try to think of that headache lasting 24 hours… stretch that to a couple of days… then a week… you get the point I hope.
This is going to sound silly, but I thought I had a clue about the pain I was going through until Monday morning. After physio, TENS (have I mentioned I love TENS), and blood pressure, I walked outside and before I knew it eyes were full of water and I realized that for about 2 mins there wasn’t a muscle, joint, bone… nothing was hurting. OH WHAT A FEELING!!!
Trust me when I tell you this… even if it is only once, and only today… absorb the experience of not being in pain. When you walk down a street or up a flight of stairs, embrace that you can!!! I don’t want to preach, but ask anyone who has any type of chronic pain just how lucky you are. Well, I am addicted, and will be doing everything to get back that feeling.
So day 3 was chair squats, calve raises, neck stretches, ball lifts (lol, you’re so dirty, yea have fun with that) and TENS!!!! They said I am tolerating pretty well so far, so next week we will up the length and intensity of treatments. Then Monday night came…. Oy! Maybe I will vote against more and more intense. It hurts!!! But I am committed, so very committed.
Hug someone… if you’re in the area, hug me!
Have a great day.

Oh do I ever agree. Living with chronic pain is not something you can begin to imagine unless you live in it and with it. Cherish the pain free moments my friend ... And here's to hoping for more of those moments. Hopefully some day soon they will be the norm, not the exception.
